Coaching is a process of discovery and building self-confidence in developing ideas and writing. Choosing coaching rather than professional editing engages "you the writer" in a participatory experience.
In this approach, you and your coach identify the parameters of the project and interact to bring out what you want and need to say in words. The coach will prod you gently along, allowing you to maintain your own writing “voice” and style of expression.
You’re about to sit down to write the text for a personal or work-related project. You’ve got great ideas but are not sure how or where to begin. Or you have many beginnings and need a little help putting it all together...
You’ve had some great adventures or an unusual life. You've got an idea for a book and you may have started some writing. You feel that with some creative direction and suggestions, you’ll be off and running…
After identifying your audience (general adult, a specialized audience, youth, etc.), you’ll want to decide what approach to take and what material to include. Fiction or nonfiction...poems, memoir, or corporate history...website or brochure: how will you dive in and shape the content for your readership? Could you benefit from help in developing a general outline or plan? What supporting materials—photos, illustrations, glossary, bibliography—might enhance your publication?
Jan Sadler will discuss your project with you and anyone else on your team. A simple plan of action will lay the groundwork before work begins. In this way, you’re secure in a comfortable working style and can easily and enjoyably meet the goals you’ve set for your publication.
